Preparation

This unit will focus on the Software Defined Networking (SDN) technology, how it functions and how it can be utilized. The initial reading material listed is expected preparatory work before the lecture and will be the basis for the RAT. The videos may help introduce the SDN context and are recommended if you have not been previously introduced to SDN. Finally, we include some optional reading material.

In the following paper, the sections of interest are Section I; II; III A and B; and IV A. Other sections contain superfluous and somewhat outdated information to this course, but may be of interest for deeper dives in the topic. This survey remains one of the most heavily cited papers regarding SDN and has acted a basis for much of the academic work on SDN.
